A known gang member has been found guilty of shooting a nightclub bouncer who threw him out of a popular nightclub.

Jerome Marshall, of Kirtley House, Thessaly Road, Battersea, shot the security staff member outside the White House, in Clapham Park Road, Clapham on March 2.

A jury at Woolwich Crown Court found him guilty on August 9 of wounding with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a firearm.

He previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a quantity of cannabis.

The 26-year-old bouncer, who began his shift the evening before, dealt with a disturbance involving a group of men inside the building at 2.30am March 2 this year.

Marshall, who was with the group of men, was thrown out of the club.

After the incident the bouncer returned to his position outside the premises, spotting Marshall 40 minutes later in the street wearing a balaclava and hooded top.

The court heard he loitered outside speaking to the group of men, while the victim heard him say "I'm going to do it."

Marshall produced a handgun from within the rear waistline of his trousers and fired it in the direction of the victim.

He fled the scene as a passenger in a black BMW parked up nearby.

The bouncer was taken to hospital with a superficial leg wound and has since made a full recovery.

Police were able to link Marshall to the BMW as he was the sole insured driver, but officers have been unable to recover the vehicle.

On March 7 officers raided an address in Cottage Grove, Clapham, where a hooded top was found with gunshot residue.

Forensic exams of a cartridge case found the firearm was also used during a shooting in Fiesta Bar, Acre Lane, Brixton.

Marshall was arrested after the raid and later charged.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Le Pere, of Trident Gang Crime Command, said: "Marshall is a dangerous known gang associate and this case further demonstrates the chaotic lifestyle of gang members.

"Today's verdict shows the dedication of Trident detectives to investigate and bring to justice those who harm their communities through their violence and gang criminality.

"We will continue to target gang members for their violent behaviour and place them before the courts."

He will be sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on September 9.
