A happy snapper has won an international competition run by National Geographic.
Calum Holker beat thousands of other entries to take first place in the humour category of the children’s competition, with his photo titled Terrifying Mantis.
The 11-year-old from Richmond was one of three UK winners out of four possible categories.
He said: “I’m so excited to have won a category in an international competition, it’s a dream come true. I love taking pictures and I’d love to be a photographer when I’m older and work for a magazine like National Geographic Kids.”
Jenni Gaskin, features writer at National Geographic Kids Magazine, said: “Our British readers had a real challenge on their hands because to even get to the international competition they first had to beat more than 2,000 UK entries judged by singer Ronan Parke, former Newsround presenter Sonali Shah and renowned National Geographic photographer Reza.”
