Down's Syndrome dance group hoping for worldwide fame

A dance group comprised of performers with Down's Syndrome is hoping to win £250,000 and worldwide fame in a television contest.

Dance For Joy, an eight person act from Battersea, showed off their skills to a panel of judges on Sky One’s Got to Dance competition.

The group, who are aged 28 to 42, danced to 'I Dreamed A Dream' in front of JLS’ Aston Merrygold, former pussycat doll Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Banjo from dance group Diversity.

They formed 20 years go through the Alessendre Special Needs Dance School, in Whistlers Avenue, Battersea and practice every week.

They have said if they win the competition they will spend the money on improving facilities at the dance school.

Dance For Joy will feature on Got To Dance on Sky One this Sunday at 6pm.
