Children had the chance to discover whether the Viking raiders were as vicious as is claimed when a warrior of the time visited Bourne Hall at the weekend.
Thorulf Hammrsso, a Viking warrior resting between raids, visited Bourne Hall Museum Kids’ Club on Saturday to demonstrate the fact behind the fiction.
Revealing why the Beserkers were so revered within Viking culture, the re-enactor showed off his terrifying array of weapons, while telling the group about his craftsmanship and trade.
Children also learnt how the Vikings made their own armour and minted their own coins for trade, as well as how far they travelled in pursuit of goods, land and slaves.
