A young man was rescued from his flat after his kitchen caught fire last night.
The 20-year-old was helped from the balcony of his flat in Gipsy Hill by firemen at around 4.30am in the morning.
His mother had already managed to get to safety.
Three fire crews attended the blaze, which left the kitchen heavily damaged and the rest of the flat with smoke damage.
The man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene but didn’t require any further help. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
