Belgrave Harriers sprinter Dwain Chambers will not be able to compete for Britain in the Beijing Olympics after he lost his attempt to overturn his lifetime ban.
The 30-year-old took his case to secure an injunction against the British Olympic Association by-law to the High Court, but the ruling went against him today. Chambers won the 100m at the British Olympic Games trials at Birmingham last weekend but several national team members - including John Fisher Old Boy and Teddington-based Jo Pavey - this week signed a petition saying the sprinter should not be allowed on the plane to China.
Chambers served a two-year suspension after testing positive for the steroid THG in 2003.
Under BOA rules, any athlete who has served a drugs ban is barred from representing GB in the Olympics.
Chambers had argued that the ban was an unfair restraint of trade.
