Tarrant's wife keeps licence despite speeding
TV host Chris Tarrant's wife escaped a driving ban yesterday, despite reaching 15 points on her licence.
Ingrid Tarrant, 53, from Ockham Lane in Cobham, claimed she could not lose her licence because she needed to transport her son to school but wanted to keep him out of the eyes of the media.
Mrs Tarrant, who split from the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? star after he had an affair, was caught speeding in her Saab at 63mph in a 50mph zone on the A3 Esher Bypass on September 26 last year.
She was also spotted using her mobile in the car in Chertsey on November 27, the court heard.
She received £600 in fines and six penalty points for the offences, which were added to the nine points already on her licence.
But she was not banned from driving because magistrates accepted her "exceptional privilege" defence.

Another example of the "one law for the rich" rule. Absolute disgrace. She could afford taxis to take her kids to school. Other people's kids have to walk.

Outrageous!!!!!!!!!
If that had been me I bet I would have been walking home from the court.
I have NO faith in the courts at all.

As we all know, talking on the phone while you're driving is really stupid and deserves the punishment, but I think I can remember when that section of the A3 had a 70 miles per hour speed limit - not so long ago. Anyway at least the slightly over the speed limit 'crime' is another box ticked for the police.
