Boy tells court: 'I've just stabbed someone'
A teenage thug brazenly walked into Croydon's youth court this morning to announce he had just stabbed a gang rival who was due to appear before the bench.
The shocking confession came minutes after his 16-year-old adversary was stabbed under the arm while walking through the Fairfield Halls car park at around 10.20am today.
The attacker left his victim, who it is thought was due to appear in court on gang related charges, with a punctured lung before running towards the courts in Barclay Road.
He then sauntered into the building and was overheard by staff confessing to knifing the teenager. He then ran out of the building, jumped on a bicycle and rode off up the road before turning into nearby Alytre Road.
It is thought CCTV cameras in the magistrates court complex filmed him walking into the building. The tapes have been passed to police.
The victim made his own way to Mayday Hospital for treatment.
A spokesman for Croydon Police said: "Police were called on Wednesday at 10.21 am to the road outside Fairfield Hall, Croydon, to reports of a stabbing.
"London Ambulance Service was called but there was no victim at the scene.
"Police spoke to a south London Hospital who confirmed a 16-year-old boy suffering a stab wound under the arm had made his way to the hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"It is believed the suspect is a young black man, about 5ft tall, wearing a jacket with a hood who was seen to ride off on a pedal cycle in the direction of East Croydon station.
Anyone with information should call 020 8649 0090.
A spokesman for the Courts Service said: "The victim was due to appear before the youth court.
"Shortly after the incident another young man briefly entered the youth court reception area.
"Croydon Magistrates' Court's CCTV cameras caught footage of the person believed to be the attacker outside the court and the film has been passed on to the police.
"HMCS is taking the incident very seriously and will continue to assist the police with their investigation."

This child needs understanding,did anyone consider his needs? He may well have come from a broken home been bullied at school or forced to do it under peer pressure. At least he had the guts to confess his deeds to a court knowing full well he may have been arrested and sentenced to community service. It may have been a cry for help. On the other hand he could possibly be just stupid.

What this child needs is discipline! And a prison sentence! I came from a broken home and was bullied at school, but I didn't go round knifing other people!!!!! It's time we stopped making excuses and started making examples!

It is time people accepted that this is all down to a breakdown in the family unit. Strong parents and the involvement of grandparents to aid in discipline makes a massive difference.
The modern world is all about excuses. No-one is stupid, no-one meant to do it, it wasn't their fault, they have a learning disability, they are from a broken home...
All of this pansy left wing do-gooder talk has got us to where we are today, just a reflection of the US, perhaps 10 years behind.
Is there an answer, yes. It will never happen though.

I will put a VERY SAFE BET on him being black...This has nothing to do with normal moral breakdowns of society. but more to do with this countries fear of stampng down on the unacceptable behaviour ofthe immigrant population of this country for fear of being branded 'racist'

Here here to all sensible comments, I have lived in Croydon all my life and now 35 I wonder what this area is coming too, I used to be out till all hours in Croydon and I could come out of a club at 2am in the morning and not have to be constantly looking over my back for fear of being mugged or in this day in age its called Robbery for what its worth the sentence doesn't get better. Now my only concern is I have 2 young children and I am ashamed to say when they reach the age where they can go out it will be my job to ferry them about pick them up at all hours just because Croydon is no longer a safe place....... Anyone out there interested in my comments, MP's, police lol.

My son comes from broken home as his mum and me split up. He is 11 and last week told on a lad who he saw steal £50 from a youth club worker in the youth club. The other lad is older and threantened my son if he told but he went ahead and told. I'm so proud of him for 2 things, standing up to a bully and knowing right from wrong. Oh by the way the other lad doesn't come from a broken home and I know which one I'd rather be the father of. Cheers wee man, love you.

I recently left a school in S Croydon, mentioning now names, can't understand how any one can work with these so called children, just abuse and really badly behaved. Yes, it is a shame that majority of them come from awful backgrounds but why are these people still having kid after kid if they cant look after them. Its going to get worse because nothing can be done about it, nothing. Everybodies hands are tide there is no disapline any more.

Yes, "What is happening", how DO you crawl out from a stone? I know Jameel and his English is excellent and most of his spare time is spent doing charitable works. He obviously prefers to use a patois on this site but that's no reason to be rude to him; you should be ashamed of yourself.
