Trapeze artists supported only by their hair and teeth, a dwarf eating glass and sword swallowing using a power drill – welcome to the Circus of Horrors.
Ringmaster Dr Haze and his band of weird and wonderful acts descend on the Fairfield Halls the day after Halloween to extend the scary season in Croydon and warns the show is not for the fainthearted.
He says: “We recommend it is not suitable for under-16s though there is no certification. There are funny bits but it can also be very sinister.”
The Circus of Horrors launched in 1995 at Glastonbury and enjoyed a run in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Dr Haze says: “I told the producers from the start we would not be watering it down in any way. It’s a shame we didn’t win, I think the royals would have loved it.”
The circus is back on the road with a new musical show, The Ventriloquist. The Circus of Horrors, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon, 7.30pm, November 1, £12.50 and £24, 020 8688 9291, www.fairfield.co.uk.
