Directed by Australian George Miller, this will be the fourth instalment in the franchise. And if the new trailer is anything to go by, it’s set to be explosive and impressive on all levels.

The original movie was released in 1979 and starred Mel Gibson as Max, but the fourth movie boasts an impressive all-star cast that includes the likes of Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and more.

Here’s a breakdown of some important reveals and key scenes from the new trailer.

Well, sort of. Actor Hugh Keays-Byrne, who starred in the first movie as Toecutter, is back in the latest instalment, returning as a character called Immortan Joe.

Max’s dialogue

In the previous trailers, apart from a line or two here and there, information has been sparse. But in this trailer we hear Max (played by Tom Hardy), saying: “In this wasteland I’m running from both the living… and the dead” and then “I am a man reduced to one instinct – survival.” Take from this what you will…

Car-tastic chases galore

Director George Miller was quoted as telling Reuters that the new movie is essentially a “105-minute chase scene through the wasteland”. The new trailer does show some epic-looking scenes, as well as what look like some impressive cars. The opening few seconds show what looks like a version of the original Interceptor.

Imperator Furiosa looks fierce

Not that you’d expect anything less from Charlize Theron, but the glimpse of her doing what looks like a headbutt is surely only a taster of what’s to come from her character, Imperator Furiosa. Talking about the character, Miller told Reuters she’s “a hardcore warrior with a purpose.”

Model addition
