One of Ricky Wilson’s team members on The Voice took the battle rounds too literally when he punched his mentor in the face.

Stevie McCrorie, 29, got carried away after his contest with Jessie Wallace’s partner Tim Arnold and threw his fists up in the air.

But unfortunately, his category mentor Ricky was standing a little too close and got socked in the face, exclaiming: “You nearly knocked my nose off!”

The scene comes up in this weekend’s BBC show, according to the Daily Star, and apparently medics were on hand to make sure that Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky was alright to continue with filming.

The battle rounds see acts from the same team paired up to sing a duet, with their mentor choosing the best of the two contestants to take through to the next round.

Tomorrow night’s episode will be the first show of the battle rounds this series, after the blind auditions came to an end last week.

The Voice continues tomorrow night on BBC One at 7.15pm.
