Epsom welcomes Bee Gees and Queen tributes
The mane men: The Bee Gees tribute Jive Talkin'
The mane men: The Bee Gees tribute Jive Talkin'

Epsom Playhouse turns into some sort of crazy time travelling music machine next week, as it plays host to tributes to two of the biggest acts of the 70s and 80s.

First up is Mercury, a tribute to the astounding talent that was Freddie Mercury and Queen. It is a show which has been endorsed by (almost) the real thing, as Mercury was invited to perform live for Queen drummer Roger Taylor and his friends.

Mercury has made a real name for itself in Europe, where it was built up a big, devoted fanbase which follows it across the UK. So there could be some travelling Spaniards and Hungarians among the Epsom Queen enthusiasts this week.

Then on Wednesday is Jive Talkin' - the Bee Gees story based on the musical life and times of the falsetto, be-maned trio.

Featuring the stunningly convincing vocals of Brothers Darren and Gary Simmons as Barry and Robin Gibb, as well as Jarrod Loughlin as Maurice Gibb, these three leading men collectively have career highs including starring in London's West End, numerous world wide TV appearances and performing live with the Bee Gees themselves.

From the tear-jerkers such as Massachusetts and Words, to the hip-breakers like Stayin' Alive and Night Fever, the Bee Gees catalogue of hits is bought to life in its most pure form.

For Valentine's day, the Playhouse steps further back in time for a night of big band classics courtesy of the always excellent Syd Lawrence Orchestra.

Epsom Playhouse, Ashley Avenue, Epsom, KT18 5AL, prices vary, call 01372 742555 / 742227 for booking and details.
