A cancer surviver from Wandsworth is playing her biggest gig yet in the UK this month.
Gabby Young, 27, of Juer Street, Battersea, is tipped to be the next big thing after appearing on Radio 4 and BBC 6 Music.
Her band Gabby Young and Other Animals are playing their folk-inspired tunes at KOKO, Camden in a headlining gig.
Miss Young was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when she was 21. An operation to remove the thyroid could have damaged her vocal chords, but her voice has remained in top-form.
The singer used the recovery period to pen her songs, determined to record her experiences.
In 2008 she formed eight piece band Gabby Young and Other Animals and she continued on her quest to the top.
Audiences can expect to see a blend of music and performance, with shows combining brass bands, dancers and trapeze artists.
Gabby Young and Other Animals play KOKO on October 13.
Doors open at 7pm.
Tickets cost £10 - £12.50 and can be purchased at ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=434043&interface=koko
