The Eel Pie Club in Twickenham will host a tribute night to the godfather of UK rhythm and blues this month.

Cyril Davies was one of the first British blues harmonica players and one of the pioneers of the UK rhythm and blues scene, which started at the Ealing Club and then moved to Eel Pie Island, Twickenham.

A spokesman for the Eel Pie Club says: “The Cyril Davies Tribute Night, where the Alan Glen/John O’Leary All-Stars celebrate the music of Cyril Davies and Alexis Korner, and the release in 1963 of ‘Country Line Special/Chicago Calling’ is now an annual event and one of the post popular in the Eel Pie Club calendar and features some of the best and most prolific rhythm and blues musicians in the UK.”

The All-Stars include John O’Leary (from Savoy Brown), Alan Glen (from Yardbirds), Bob Haddrell (from Sonny Black), Tim Hain, Glynn Evans (Marthy & the Vandellas, Ray Davies), Peter Miles (Jo-Ann Kelly, Radical Sheiks) and Nick Newall (Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band).

They will be joined by a host of special guests.
