With music in their blood, the sons of Reggae producer Glen Williams are preparing to make their own mark on the music scene.
308, made up of brothers Deore and Shay Williams, have been developing their music and a growing fanbase since 2008 and with the release of their latest single Heartbreaker, are hoping to make the jump into the big time.
The pair has already grabbed attention with debut single Gots to Go featuring on BBC DJ Ros Kwame’s show and second single Sweat receiving almost 200,000 YouTube hits.
They’ve also supported leading lights such as Chipmunk, Omar and Tinie Tempah.
Shay, 24, says: “We have been commissioning remixes and have linked up with 7th heaven productions who have recorded a remix. Some top people have had their hands on this and we are hoping it will go everywhere.”
Deore, 29, adds: “We are still recording and promoting and trying to push Heartbreaker but we are happy to play anywhere - we want to sing and perform - we’d do it in the street if people wanted us to.”
Fusing traditional rhythm and blues with more pop and disco sounds, the pair are keen people don’t pigeon hole them as typical RnB artists.
Shay says: “We want to be different. Without wanting to criticise anyone in the industry there is a feeling that some people are just in it for the money. We want to take RnB back to its roots when it was all about the music and singing.
“It’s so good to see the energy from recording this track evolve into life and it shows how well it works.
“We enjoy performing it and people seem to take to it quickly, it’s up tempo and always leaves us out of breath, so it’s a great track to perform as well as listen to”.
Heartbreaker is due for release later this year.
