Chart-topping, award-winning folk-rock superstars from Wimbledon, Mumford and Sons brought all of their massive hits to British Summer Time Festival at Hyde Park tonight.
Here are all the pictures (above) and everything you need to know from their barnstorming set…
The oldies are the goodies
Little Lion Man is still a footstomping, barndance singalong to get the party started. Similarly, The Cave got the audience bouncing, kickstarting a more upbeat second half of the set, accompanied by a flurry of confetti over the crowd.
Marcus works up a sweat
And the lead singer frequently looked like he might just eat the microphone.
They could have played a shorter set
Frankly some of it was a bit dreary, which is a shame because lots of it was toe tapping fun.
You will struggle to find a broader appeal
From couples with kids to hipsters with beards, pensioners, office folk and lots of not-quite-as-young-as-they-think people, they all love a bit of Mumford. There were lots and lots of couples, which made for a nice atmosphere.
You couldn't get a nicer evening
There was no sign of a winter wind. Warm with a cool breeze, sunny then fading into a fine sunset - just what you're after at a summer festival.
It was singalong central
With songs like Little Lion Man, Believe, I Will Wait and the Cave, you can't argue against their ability to kick off a good bit of audience wailing.
Mumford the music man
Good old Marcus had to work hard - not content with singing, he played a bunch of guitars (natch) but also, at various stages, drums and a tambourine.
Some special guests
A month ago Mumford and Sons recorded an EP in Jo'burg. Tonight they were joined on stage by Baaba Maal, Beatenberg and The Very Best for some atmospheric Mumford meets Africa. It was quite beautiful.
Marcus got amongst it
Fair play to him, not many would have put out themselves at the audience's mercy by wading straight in, but Marcus did. And rode triumphantly back to the stage passed over their heads.
