A south London hip hop trio are lighting up the airwaves with their new single.

Bakery Boys’ new tune Get Away, featuring Locks Laser, is currently Radio 1Xtra’s track of the week and is out on September 18.

The soulful song is about taking some time out.

Bakery Boy Shack, 34, who studied at South Thames College, said: “It was written when we were working flat out and we needed time away to re-energise.”

“It embodies that desire to 'get away' and reconnect.”

And the boys have certainly been busy.

The group, consisting brothers Shack and Ace Boogie (whose dad was a member of Soul II Soul) and childhood friend Dirty Dre, have handled all aspects of their music from writing and production to visuals and artwork.

They have had the support of TV and radio stations such as MTV Base, Kiss, AKA and Capital Xtra since their first release, Hustlin Behaviour in 2011.

As well as music, they have launched their own fashion line, Justin Hustlin, and social enterprise, Justinspire.

Justinspire sees them mentoring and volunteering across south London and Surrey.

“We’re self-taught individuals” said Dre, from Croydon.

“Growing up I had lots of creative ideas, but no idea what to do with them.  We want to plant seeds of inspiration, and to help provide the opportunity and guidance to kids to express themselves creatively and in business.”

“It’s something we believe in and are very passionate about,” said Shack. “It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that we were young kids trying to find our way and it’s amazing what a little bit of guidance and presence can do.

“It can literally save lives. We believe in foot prints and legacy and that ultimately we all have a part to play in the foundation of the next generation.”
