When I heard Archbishop Desmond Tutu was coming to Fairfield Halls to do an Audience With event, I got in a bit of a flap.

What would I wear if I got to meet him and do an interview (a new suit would have to be bought) and how would I address him? Archbishop? Mr Tutu? Sir? Or maybe he likes Dezza?

Sadly, my hopes were dashed when it was confirmed he was too busy in the weeks leading up to next Thursday's appearance to have time to talk.

He did though, send a very nice video message which you can see below:

For those of you who don't know, the Archbishop is a cleric and activist who rose to worldwide fame in the 1980s as an opponent of apartheid.

He became the second South African to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 and has continued to campaign vigorously for human rights throughout the world.

He will be in talking to Sir Trevor McDonald all about his life and his causes, with all proceeds going to The Desmond Tutu Peace Centre in Cape Town.

An Audience with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, August 5, 7.30pm, £20 to £25. Call 020 8688 9291 or visit fairfield.co.uk
