Fresh from performing at Wembley Arena, Croydon afrobeats artist Silvastone is set to release his eagerly anticipated mixtape.

The Resume is out September 5 and he plans to release his second EP in January 2016.

Named amongst Radio 1Xtra’s Hot for 2015 list, Silvastone has had a busy year twice performing at Wembley Arena and once at Glastonbury.

He currently has a song called ‘Skatta’, featuring well-known reggae musician Chaka Demus.

Silvastone’s latest EP, The Transition has been championed by the likes of Radio 1Xtra’s Mistajam and Capital 1Xtra’s Ras Kwame.

He said: “It’s great to be recognised by these well-known people.”

Born in Mayday hospital, Silvastone lived in England until the age of eleven before moving to Sierra Leone for four years.

He returned at the age of fifteen before going to St Andrew’s school in Croydon.

After studying at Coulsdon and Croydon College, Silvastone began his music career as a music producer, working with established artists such as Rita Ora, Mark Morrison and UK Hip-Hop artist Sway.

Silvastone started pursuing his own music career four years ago and believes his time as a music producer has helped his music career.

He said: “Artists are willing to do music with me now, because they already know me from my music producing days.”

Silvastone produces all of his own music and believes his latest EP is an example, he said, of “How I try to infuse my stuff with other genres like drum and bass, hip-hop and trap.”
