A Brixton restaurant is on tapas the wolrld after winning a publicly-voted award.

Boqueria in Acre Lane was voted the London regional winner in the Waitrose Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards for the second time.

It beat off stiff competition from some of the capital’s best-known restaurants to seal the win with its ‘exquisite tapas’ and good value menu.

Waitrose’s Good Food Guide asked diners to vote back in march and the overall winner was The Miller of Mansfield in Goring, Oxfordshire.

Waitrose Good Food Guide editor Elizabeth Carter says: "This award is a celebration of small, independent restaurants that specialise in amazing quality food, often at great value prices.

“While trained inspectors carry out all our reviews, we rely on readers to let us know about eateries that might otherwise be overlooked. They are incredibly sophisticated when it comes to eating out, so it makes sense to listen to their opinions.

"We are not going to argue with Brixton residents – this unpretentious tapas bar is one of the most authentic tapas venues in town, offering exquisite tapas, a good value menu, a great atmosphere and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. "
