Auditions for Tartuffe, Moliere’s hilarious comedy about religious hypocrisy, will be held at the cornerHOUSE on Sunday (September 21).

The play by the 17th century French writer will relaunch the Surbiton arts centre’s inHOUSE productions.

Director Tanju Duncan said: “Tartuffe is Moliere's brilliant play about a religious zealot. It uses infectious comedy to highlight the dangers of blind faith. It is a play full of fools and folly which centres on the shallow merchant Orgon who falls under the spell of the pious swindler Tartuffe - a perfect comedy creation.

“The production will rely heavily on characterisation bringing out the fun, making it a bright, light and energetic show.”

Tanju said Tartuffe is the arts centre’s first in-house production for a while – apart from its immensely popular panto which is held each January.

“If you are a face from our past or new to the cornerHOUSE, this is a fantastic opportunity to come along and get involved,” she added.

The play will be staged at the arts centre in Douglas Road in November.

Auditions start at 2pm. Arrive early to register.
