Here is the solution for anyone on the look-out for a boozy afternoon who also wants to see the best of their borough.

Young’s Brewery, which has established in Wandsworth 425 years ago, has created the Wandsworth Wander walking route and map which encompasses all of the area’s best bits and four refreshing beer stops.

Included on the stroll from The Plough in St John’s Hill to the Queen Adelaide on Putney Bridge Road are the cafes, bars and antiques shops along Old York Road, Southside Shopping Centre and the farmers’ market.

Among the architecture, which varies from classic Victorian to contemporary, the route also includes the Ram brewery which was Britain’s longest running brewery, established 425 years ago. It officially closed in 2006 but former Young’s site manager and brewer John Hatch continues to brew on a non-commercial scale to maintain its record.

The pubs on the Wandsworth Wander are the quirky New York-inspired The Plough, renowned rugby pub The Alma, craft beer haven The Brewers Inn and home-from-home Queen Adelaide.

Check out the map above for a low-down of the route.
