Local art and crafts will be on display and for sale at the Oxshott Art Society’s 60th exhibition, showcasing the talent of local artists.

The exhibition will be held at the Oxshott Village Centre on April 21 and 22 and there will be a wide range of art to view and buy, including watercolours, charcoals, collages, photography, portraits and various sorts of crafts including wood turning.

To celebrate the society’s 60th exhibition, a private viewing will be held on Friday, April 20, for members and guests.

Chairman of the Oxshott Art Society Roger Marsden says: “Locals can happily expect to see paintings of Cobham Mill, Oxshott Woods, West End Village, Headley Church, and other local scenes as well as work featuring the West Country and France.”

There will be 29 artists and five craftsmen at the exhibition displaying and selling their work, with prices from £40 for miniatures up to £450.

Mr Marsden says there will be about £18,000 worth of art on display. Proceeds go to the artist with a nominal commission going to the art society.

The cheapest items available will be things like greeting cards which several artists produce and which will sell for from £1 to £3, which as Mr Marsden points out, “is a much better deal than popping round to pick some up from the local shop”.

Last year’s exhibition’s sales were a bit down, according to Mr Marsden, but the year before the society sold £3,000 of art.
