In preparation for next month's Edinburgh Festival, eight of the countries top comedians descend on Warehouse Theatre next weekend to preview their offerings for this year, including chav hero Lee Nelson.

Here is who and what you can expect..

Chris Ramsey and Jimmy McGhie

Thursday, July 22.

Rising star Ramsey presents his debut Edinburgh show Aggrophobic, about avoiding confrontation, while McGhie returns to Warehouse with his second stand-up show, the wonderfully titled The All-Powerful Warrior Who, With His Endurance and Inflexible Will To Win, Goes From Conquest To Conquest Leaving Fire In His Wake.

Nat Luurtsema and Andy Zaltzman

Friday, July 23.

Luurtsema's first solo show, In My Head I'm A Hero, sees her struggle with the basics of life, and Zaltzman ponders the meaning of truth in Andy Zaltzman Swears To Tell The Truth, Half The Truth And Everything But The Truth.

Gareth Richards and Lee Nelson

Saturday, July 24.

Richards is another solo debutant at this year's Edinburgh festival where he will perform his show, Stand Up Between Songs, which is exactly what it says it is, stand up between songs. Chav Nelson is one of many characters played by Simon Brodkin and has seen his popularity soar following the start of his Well Good Show on BBC3. Some of Brodkin's other characters will also make an appearance.

Roisin Conaty and Richard Herring

Sunday, July 25.

Love, death and magpies all feature in Conaty's show, Hero, Warrior, Fireman, Liar. It is another debut show from a woman who has been tipped to break into the big time. Herring will be revamping his first and favourite solo show, Christ on a Bike: The Second Coming. Herring describes the show by saying: "Jesus was cool, it's just all the people who follow him who are such idiots. He's like the Fonz in that respect. I'm not saying I am Jesus…. that is for other people to say."
