FORMER Scotland international Derek White has resigned as coach of struggling Marlow.

White, who scored 11 tries for Scotland during his 41-cap international career, stepped down after last Saturday's 40-10 defeat at Stow-on-The-Wold to devote more time to his wife who suffers from multiple sclerosis.

Former Bucks Youth Development Officer Richard Kinsey has taken on his position as coach of the Riverwoods side.

He will be in charge of the team when Marlow resume their league programme at home to Tadley on January 6.

White would have loved to have brought the curtain down on his Marlow career with a win, but the final game of his coaching era ended in misery as the Cotswolds side scored three tries in the last ten minutes to leave the Riverwoods men on the sore end of a heavy stuffing.

Marlow were always going to be up against it with the number of withdrawals they had through injury and unavailability, and a number of players had to play out of position.

Despite the changes, Marlow started well taking the lead with a Murray Walker penalty, but Stow turned it round when Marlow lost two tries in their own 22 to capture the lead with a converted try.

But there was still every sign that it would be a good day for White and his team when Marlow regained the lead again through Fred Gorringe-Smith's pushover try.

Stow reclaimed the lead though with a try before half time and even when Marlow had to reshuffle again with White going onto the wing, to replace the bloodied James Dollery, there was nothing to indicate that they would collapse so badly at the end.
