Nettle beer and dehydrated purple corn chips are on the shortlist for this years FreeFrom Food Awards with celebrity chef Anthony Worrall Thompson set to hand out the prizes.
Three hundred products were entered into the competition of which 170 were chosen to go on the 2012 shortlist.
Chairwoman of the judging sessions, Michelle Berriedale-Johnson said: “Many of [the entries] were really pushing the boundaries of ‘freefrom’ manufacture and made it extremely hard for our judges to choose winners.”
The categories include indulgence products, rawfoods, superfoods, ready meals, plant milks and the popular gluten-free beer category.
Professional foodies, nutritionists, dieticians, allergy sufferers, freefrom and gluten-free bloggers will be among the judges attending the invitation-only event at West India Dock on April 17th.
