Pub chain O'Neill's is keen to find the ultimate Irish Stew for its winter 2012 menu.

South London foodies arebeing urged to submit their own recipes for the chance to appear on the chain's national food menu and win a three-day break in Ballymaloe House in Ireland.

Around 35,000 people eat in O’Neill’s pubs each week, so whether yours is a recipe passed down from generation to generation, or you feel inspired to get in to the kitchen and create an original Irish-inspired effort, now is the time to bring out your inner Rankin, Corrigan or Allen.

Mick Pearson, manager at O’Neill’s in Kingston, said: "We’re constantly looking at ways to develop our menu, and giving our customers the opportunity to get involved to create the best Irish Stew, and have it featured on our menu, is a really exciting opportunity.

"We can’t wait to see the ideas and get tasting them. The winner will be infamous in O’Neill’s."

Entries need to be more than just great tasting; they also need to offer our customers the great quality and value for money they’ve come to expect from O’Neill’s as the winning Irish Stew will feature on the menu of all 51 O’Neill’s pubs across the country.

"We don’t mind if the recipe submitted is created from scratch or is full of secrets passed on through the family," said Mick.

"Whether it’s an adaptation on a classic or a real Irish gem, we want to see what the people of Kingston have to offer."

Entries will go through a judging process, which at the latter stages will include a judging panel made up of O’Neill’s chefs, management and a representative from Ballymaloe.

The winning recipe creator will work with O’Neill’s food experts to hone their dish ready for it to be added to the O’Neill’s Winter menu, which launches in October 2012, joining other firm favourites such as Steak & Guinness Pie and Sausages & Colcannon.

To submit your own Irish stew for consideration to the O’Neill’s winter 2012 menu and to be in with the chance of winning a three-day trip for two to Ballymaloe House in Ireland, Like O’Neill’s on Facebook at www.facebook.com/oneillspubs and submit your recipe along with photos of your dish and 100 words on what makes your Irish Stew the winning one.

The closing date for entries is April 30, 2012.
