As part of his week long birthday celebrations, Prince Charles alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall and youngest son Prince Harry, attended The New Wimbledon Theatre Wednesday evening for a night of laughter.
We Are Not Amused, was a special night that paid tribute to Prince Charles turning 60 on Friday.
With all the proceeds going to the Prince’s Trust and a sold out audience to boot, the last words were left to comical greats of stage and screen.
John Cleese, the master of ceremonies, introduced all the acts on stage while sitting in a wheel chair, complaining about his age and being looked after by two rather delightful looking blondes.
First Up was comic legend and Academy Award winner Robin Williams who had a packed Wimbledon audience in stitches with a rendition of George Bushes malapropisms.
Next up was a high pitched, side splittingly funny performance by Michael McIntyre who reminded us all of our slightly erratic state of forgetfulness and eating ways over Christmas.
Bill Bailey left nothing to the imagination as he tore into Lionel Ritchie with his usual wit and comic timing.
Music soon followed with an in form Bailey reciting various door bell noises for the Queen and the Pope.
Other star performers on the night included Iranian comedian Omid Djalili and American legend Joan Rivers who managed to behaviour herself, for the most part, on this very regal of nights.
Mr Bean and Blackadder star, Rowan Atkinson gave Prince Charles a very holy yet exceedingly raucous sketch as a priest while a surprise musical duet between Bill Bailey and Robin Williams had the crowd on the edge of their seats with a special song dedicated to Prince Charles.
The Prince of Wales was seen throughout laughing and applauding the acts with his family before moving to the stage at the end of the night to thank each performer one by one.
The night was a wonderful event to celebrate his Royal Highness’ birthday and raise money for the Prince’s Trust.
It was a night to remember for Wimbledon, with an array of comical legends and a special visit from a very special Royal Family.
We Are Most Amused will be broadcast on ITV on Saturday at 8.35pm-9.35pm and 10.20-10.50.
