Pay is proper reward

For one of the years when I was responsible for social services in Sutton I had a temporary director and a diminished team of senior managers.

When Government fails to fund the true cost of services, one result is being unable to pay the going rate for jobs.

This does great harm - putting pressure on other staff and reducing morale, and is not in the interests of residents either.

Since those days we have built up an excellent team who should be properly rewarded - partly for their skills and partly to stop them being poached by other authorities.

It's very easy to dismiss the so-called "fat cats" but as the saying goes "if you pay peanuts you get monkeys".

What absolute rubbish. The massively overburdened taxpayer is not getting value for money - AND IT HAS TO STOP. Get a reality check. I am disgusted.
