I was appalled to read in the national Times newspaper of April 17 the remarks of Spelthorne Councillor Colin Davis concerning the tragic death of resident Theresa Mansell (Terri) on the level crossing at Moor Lane on April 16.
Councillor Davis states that the crossing is very safe, but this does not chime in with the opinion of resident Brian Smith, who has been campaigning for improvement to the crossing since 2005.
Councillor Davis' unsympathetic comments will give great offence to the many people who knew and loved Terri Mansell, including the clients of the association of which I am chairman.

She was their art tutor, and will be sorely missed.
Most importantly of all, she was their friend.
It might help to restore some of the councillor's public image if he were to join the campaign to improve the safety of the crossing.
