Surrey Council taxpayers will now have received their demand notices for the year from April 2008.
The increase in the Surrey Police Authority levy is a handsome 9.7 per cent.
Can there be any council taxpayer left who now believes that the man at the top of the force, during the period leading up to this excessive increase, deserves to be commended, as a previous correspondent suggested?

Can there be any council taxpayer left who still believes that police resources should be used for visits to children's nurseries?
Checking my figures before posting, what do I find?
The 9.7 per cent figure only appears on my Spelthorne Council demand notice.
Now where does it appear on the four A4 size pages of the "Policing Surrey" leaflet which presumably every Surrey County Council taxpayer will have received?
So much for honest openness from Surrey Police Authority.
