Residents were inspired to get behind the One Planet Food project after a hearing a talk from Soil Association director Patrick Holden.
Around 100 people packed out the Carshalton community hall to hear Mr Holden talk about the benefits of local and organic food.
After his talk the audience decided to take action, and got behind the new One Planet Food project,which aims to bring local food into the borough, grow more local food and raise awareness about healthy eating.
Mr Holden explained how sustainable farming could help with climate change by locking carbon into the soil.
