Dipping for water fauna

A group of brave youngsters hunted mini-beasts and went pond dipping for exotic creatures from the deep at the Sutton Ecology Centre's summer event Fish, Frogs and Friends.

Children from all over the borough went pond-dipping for the creatures on Wednesday August 16. After trapping and examining the mini-beasts, the group released them back into the wild and made their way back to the centre in Festival Walk in Carshalton where they made flags to remember the animals they had found.

Head of education Nikki Russell said: "All of the children really enjoyed the pond-dipping and looking at the different animals, especially the slow-worm. None of them are scared of touching them, they are really interested in investigating. The summer activities have been really good fun so far this year."
