Getting young rooted in gardening

| Raking it: Professional landscapers work with young people to improve their community |
Teenagers in Ham have been learning how to tend a garden to help them feel proud of where they live.
Professional landscape gardeners took six young people to Stuart Road, Ham, taught them a bit about plants, then helped them dig and replant them as part of a project set up by Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP).
The teens, who worked alongside two youth workers from Richmond's youth offending team, will be able to use the skills they have learned to work towards a nationally recognised Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) qualification and a Duke of Edinburgh award.
This is the second project of its kind, after 10 young people worked on gardens in Ham Close and outside Ham library last year.
