Controversial parking restrictions in Teddington will come into force in June.
The borough's transport chief approved a disputed plan to introduce new two-hour controlled parking zones (CPZs), from 8.30am to 10.30am, Monday to Friday, in 11 roads close to Teddington Station earlier this year.
The Teddington Society led a campaign to have the decision, which would see a zone introduced in Adelaide Road, Albert Road, Bridgeman Road, Cedar Road, Christchurch Avenue, Station Road, Victoria Road, and sections of Clarence Road, High Street,
Park Road and Waldegrave Road, scrutinised.
It was re-examined on the grounds that there has been insufficient transparency in the consultation and the zone had been imposed in roads, or parts of roads, that voted against the scheme and not in some that voted for.
At the end of February, Richmond Council's environment overview and scrutiny committee accepted the decision of Councillor David Trigg, cabinet member for traffic, transport and
parking, to implement the zone.
A council spokesman said traffic orders were expected to be made in the first week of June and the CPZ would come into operation on Monday, June
16, but the final shape of the zone might change because of what residents had to say at the meeting.
"In light of further representations, including petitions and surveys from residents, and consideration of the consultation results, the committee requested that Avenue Road, Blackmores
Grove and Field Lane be re-consulted to see whether residents of those roads wish to be included in the CPZ," he said.
