Home energy conference focuses on Energy Officers

This year's National Home Energy Conference organised by UK HECA will focus on the range of new targets and challenges being introduced by the Government in order to reduce CO2 emissions and their resultant effects on the environment. The conference is anticipated to be the most important event of the year in the industry, with attendees including renowned energy consultants, Enact.

Taking place in Solihull on the 13th and 14th May, the theme of this year's National Home Energy Conference is "Targeting CO2 - the expanding role of the Energy Officer". Utility companies, HECA officers and energy consultancies are invited to discuss and resolve issues including climate change, health and fuel poverty, with advice on how to secure the necessary resources to enable local authorities to maximise funding from the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target funds (CERT) and the Government's Green Homes Initiative.

Enact's association with HECA has been established for over 10 years, with the Enact managed insulation scheme, the Heat Project, fundamentally designed to ease the burden of HECA officers enabling them to meet their councils HECA requirements with the minimum of effort. Promoting the Heat Project at this year's conference, Enact hopes the event will further demonstrate the significance of the Heat Project in the conferences aims of targeting CO2.

Paul Johnson, Director of Operations at Enact comments: "The installation of loft and cavity wall insulation is widely acknowledged as a major contributing factor to achieving the UKs CO2 emissions target by 2010. We believe the HECA conference is invaluable in ensuring HECA officers, utility companies, and businesses are made aware of the potentially huge reductions in CO2 they can enjoy though simple and affordable measures with the Heat Project."
