Recycling message: Councillor Peter Thompson has "ambitious green plans" for the borough
The London Borough of Hounslow is pleased to be taking part in the Green Guardian this year, and encouraging all residents to do more to make the borough more environmentally friendly.
Hounslow Council is developing a new campaign to tackle climate change in a bid to help everyone in the borough go greener.
Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today. Taking action at a community level makes a difference. Research shows councils can help to cut carbon emissions by up to 150 million tonnes of CO2 - almost one third of the national target.
The Greener Hounslow campaign is designed to encourage the council and residents to do their bit.
Leader of the council Peter Thompson said: "The council has ambitious plans to become one of the UK's leading local authorities in the field of environmental sustainability.
"We are developing a climate change strategy and exploring new ways that we can do business in a more environmentally sustainable way. We also want to support and inspire any individuals and organisations who want to help us to reduce the borough's carbon footprint."

Coun Thompson recently signed the Nottingham Declaration, which commits the council to working with its partners and communities to tackle climate change. As part of the commitment the council will look at ways to reduce energy consumption and traffic congestion, improving the environment and tackling local fuel poverty.
