A councillor who served on Sutton Council for 38 years is among politicians stepping down when the council cabinet format is scrapped.

Lord Graham Tope, will step down as cabinet member for community safety, leisure and libraries, but remain a backbench councillor.

Councillor John Drage will no longer be lead member for finance, Councillor Kirsty Jerome will lose her post as executive member for education and schools, and councillor Sean Brennan will step down as council leader.

Councillor Ruth Dombey will become council leader and Councillor Simon Wales will be lead councillor for finance in the shake-up.

Lead roles will be announced on May 21.
