Children walk through gates of Surbiton's newest school
10:51am Friday 7th September 2012 in Education News Exclusive By Clare Buchanan
Excited children walked through the gates of the newest school in the borough on their first day of the academic year.
The schoolchildren and their parents met their new teachers at Lime Tree School, in Surbiton, including headteacher Clinton Pascoe.
Lime Tree is the borough’s first new school for 15 years and is part of Kingston’s long-term permanent expansion plan to provide additional school places.
Mr Pascoe said: “We are definitely doing something new, linking health to education. I am just surprised it’s not being done in more schools.
“I will concentrate on the growth of the school and making sure we are the heart of the community and that we are involved."
The £11.5m school is run by the Surbiton Education Health Trust and will share the grounds of the old Surbiton Hospital with a new health centre, which is due to open in March next year.
