Best-selling novelist Tracy Chevalier was guest of honour at an awards ceremony to honour the best young writers in Wimbledon.
Ms Chevalier, who is best-known for her second novel, Girl with a Pearl Earring, presented the awards at the annual Wimbledon BookFest competition which attracts hundreds of entries each year, including from Merton and Wandsworth and beyond.
This year's overall winner was Pheobe McDade from Wimbledon High, on Mansel Road, Wimbledon.
Other winners included Ruby Dixon (Graveney School), Daniel Tretyakov (Willington School), Charlie Mills (Emmanuel School), Mia Ciano (Raynes Park High), Theo Hawkins(King’s College School), Pheobe McDade (Wimbledon High School) and Jakub Wiak (Wimbledon College).
The winners will have their stories or poems published in an anthology.
The competition has included 67 state and independent schools to date.
