Thames Water is offering free home visits to see if they should switch to a 'smart water meter'.

A spokesman for the water company said: "The aim of the smart metering programme is to reduce overall water use and improve leakage detection, owing to population growth and climate change putting pressure on water resources.

"Meters will help achieve this aim, by giving residents access to their water use information online, via regular comparison letters, or over the phone."

"Since the launch of the metering programme in 2015, Thames Water has delivered over 123,000 home visits which has saved around 4.9 million litres of water every day, the equivalent water supply for more than 12,000 homes.
