A group of moped riders have been involved in a series of reported cases of anti-social riding and criminal damage in Epsom and West Ewell.

Surrey Police was alerted by the Met to four riders involved in a theft in Chessington at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, July 19..

At 12.50pm they received a call from a driver about three mopeds being ridden aggressively on Horton Lane.

Officers were dispatched to the area, but the group had left the scene.

Six further reports from the public, including regarding incidents on the M25, Bourne Hall and Trotter Way, came in throughout the afternoon, with the last report coming from Ewell Bypass at 5.55pm, by which time there appeared to be only one bike

Local Neighbourhood Officer PC Tom Arthur said: “Despite numerous police being brought in to the borough to deal with these mopeds, the irregular locations of the calls made it hard to pinpoint the group.

“We are currently working with the Metropolitan Police to identify the mopeds and the riders and ask that anyone with photographs of either the group of mopeds or any incidents that they have been involved in, to come forward and contact us so we can gather evidence.”

The riders were described as five males on three mopeds, wearing face coverings and a mixture of black and white helmets and black jackets.

Anyone with information, video footage or photos of the suspects or their mopeds from Wednesday is asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45170078326, or use the online reporting system report.police.uk.
